MB Garage, Inc. in San Mateo is being recognized for its efforts to reduce waste in the auto industry. Besides sponsoring a coop for selling bio-fuel (recycled vegetable oil from local restaurants) they recycle all used oil, estimating 1240 gallons of used oil, four 55 gallon drums of used oil filters, fuel filters and antifreeze recycled in 2011. They have established a great revenue avenue for recycling all their metals. With the BizSMART program they are diverting 72% of their waste from the landfill, and including the other materials they recycle outside the program; they are making a huge impact on reducing their carbon footprint.
