Transforming the Way We Think about Trash
February is the month when many people start planning their spring and summer events. According to the Convention Industry Council, greening events helps the economic bottom line (save money by reducing trash on future purchases) and the environmental bottom line (lessen the impact of your event on the earth). It's as easy as the 1-2-3, the 3Rs.
Reduce :: Save Money and Trees - Print Less
Save a tree by printing large posters for your event instead of handouts or programs. You'll save money on printing, clean up costs, and your participants may meet a new friend at the poster!
Reuse :: Help Exhibitors Be More Reuse-friendly
Offer exhibitors re-use opportunities for their decorations and display materials. These items may be in demand by local schools or charitable organizations.
Recycle :: Maximize Recycling Opportunities
Give resources another life outside the landfill. Start or expand a recycling program to capture paper, cardboard, metals, glass, plastics, and separate organic materials for composting. Contact your local recycling and garbage hauler about options.
Workshop :: Local Learning Opportunity
Attend the Venues and Events Workshop and Tour on February 28, 2005 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. in downtown Oakland, CA. Workshop pre-registration fee is $25. For more information about this workshop and to register, visit the California Resource Recovery Association's web site www.CRRA.com.
Do your part to help the planet: reduce, reuse, and recycle!
